Fiano di Avellino is an exciting appellation from Campania based on the Fiano variety. It has been an important wine since the time of the Roman Empire when it was known as Apianum. The vineyards grow on the special soil around the city of Avellino with calcareous and volcanic elements, giving a unique character to the wine.
Star-bright straw yellow, it opens with lemon zest, green apple notes, and an almond blossom scent. This is followed by stone fruit character and hazelnut. There is good tension on the palate, with flavors of lemon juice, white peach, and citrus blossom. The finish is dry, with volcanic mineral and walnut tastes. The wines are vinified only in steel tanks.
