Chakra Oro Primitivo Riserva Gioia del Colle DOC - 2019

Rich and developed wine made from Primitivo grapes. Primitivo is a world-famous grape, producing delicious red wines in Puglia. This Primitivo comes from a higher altitude, giving the wine a fresh acidity. Classic Primitivo from Puglia is often fleshy, jammy, and overripe on the palate. Chakra Rosso shows a totally different side of Primitivo, with great balance and acidity, extended complexity, and length. Puglia, or Apulia for English speakers, is in the south of Italy, "down the heel of the boot," originally the place where Mattia comes from.

The wine displays a deep purple color with a slight orange rim. It is fruity, developed with aromas of ripe plums, red and blackberries, holding a mineral weight and richness given by the fermentation process. The extended aging in tonneaux imparts a slight oxidative character to the wine with aromas of cedar, mushrooms, tobacco, and cigar.

The grapes are carefully selected, gently pressed, and remain in contact with the skins for a few days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques and tonneaux, second pass, and third passage.
